To and From Loughton Station:
We’re just a few minutes away from the underground station. From there we have a direct link with Saddlers Cars. The approximate fare each way is £1.50 per person based on four sharing. This you will find gives you the versatility of taxi travel for the price of a bus ticket. There is also from The Elms a beautiful walk through the forest which takes about 30 minutes.
The Elms Directlink can also collect you from any of London’s airports 24 hours a day. As a price example, four persons coming from Stansted Airport would pay around £48 on public transport and take around 90 minutes to get here. Via Elms Directlink, it will take 30 minutes and cost approx. £30.
Parking:
There are three large safe car-parks at Loughton Station, all day parking is approx. £4.50p per day.
From Harwich:
By car leave Harwich by the A120 signposted Colchester and Braintree. Follow to Junction 8 on the M11. Take the London direction, when you reach Junction 6 on the M25 take signs for North (not Dartford.) The first junction you come to is Junction 26, leave to roundabout and follow signs to Waltham Cross, next roundabout shows forward to Waltham Cross or left for Chingford. Turn left A112, second pub on the left (The Plough), turn left and follow signs to the campsite.
From Dover – Folkestone – Channel Tunnel:
Take the M20 or M2 to the M25, follow signs and cross Dartford crossing, follow M25 to Junction 26, (see from Harwich.) Please note, from wherever you approach from outside the M25, enter the M25 and leave by Junction 26 (see Harwich.)
By Air: Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3,4
Enter underground system, take the Picadilly line to Holborn, then the Central Line to Loughton.
Gatwick Terminals: (North and South)
Take the Gatwick Express to Victoria, enter the subway system and take the District Line to Mile End. Hop onto the Central Line to Loughton.
Luton Airport:
Network rail to Kings Cross, then the underground, Victoria Line to Walthamstow Central, then number 20 bus to Lougton.
Stanstead Airport:
Main line to Liverpool Street Station, Central Line to Loughton. Please note: It will cost four persons £50 from Stanstead Airport to The Elms via the subway and take approx 90 minutes. Via Elmslink Car Service a car will collect four persons from Stanstead Airport and bring you directly to The Elms Campsite in approx 30 minutes, for £30 per car.
City Airport:
Take the taxi or bus to Docklands Light Railway, go to Stratford, then Central Line to Loughton.
Additional Information:
Once you are in the underground (subway) network, the cost of a ticket to get to The Elms is approx. £4.00 single from anywhere in London. On arrival day travel passes for single travellers for families are available at Loughton Station and these offer exceptional value. If during your stay you wish to spend an evening in London for the theatre or restaurant, the last train returns to Loughton at approx. midnight and there will be taxis to bring you home for approx. £6.50. I am sure you will agree what excellent value this is, and will want to take full advantage of this at least once during your stay because London is simply stunning by night.
